Home Cleaning: Cleaning Stain from Marble

     Marble is a porous stone, timing is crucial when it comes to removing stains. Remove spills immediately, rubbing, which can cause the spread of the slick. The longer a stain is, the more likely it is water them and remove almost impossible. Here is a sampling technique that will work for several common stains.

You will need:
  • Whiting powder (available at paint stores and home improvement)
  • Hydrogen peroxide or other chemical stain removal
  • Water
  • Plastic wrap
  • Tape
  • Small bowl
  • Clean cloth or sponge
  • Micro-fiber

The process of elimination:
  1. Poultice is a product that absorbs stains from granite, but will take time.
  2. Start by mixing the drink according to the manufacturer's instructions in a small bowl. You want to create a thick porridge. It should be the consistency of peanut butter.
  3. Apply to the stained area, if only the stain. The layer of paste should be about one quarter inch thick and overlap by one inch and a half spot.
  4. Cover with plastic and tape the edges.
  5. Let's take this on the stain until it dries. This can take up to two days.
  6. When the pasta is dry with a cloth or sponge to dry the pasta.
  7. Rinse with clean water.
  8. Clean dry the area as normal and leave.
  9. If stain remains, you may need to repeat steps 2-6 several times, increasing the distance between the spots.
For more tips and advice:
  • For marble floors, it is best to protect them with a stone sealer.
  • A glass or plastic tray for storing cosmetics on the vanity marble surfaces use. Make sure they feel under to avoid scratches on the marble.
  • Do not use alcohol or citrus fruit sitting on the marble surface, which can record and boring.

  • The application of a clear wax will help protect the marble. Do not wax white marble as it can yellow.
  • If you are marble floors, it is at best cleaned with a neutral floor cleaner or a trained professional cleaning. For everyday maintenance, sweeping and dust is usually sufficient.
